Jorge Hernandez
Law Clerk
Jorge is fluently trilingual in English, French, and Spanish. As an immigration law clerk at Babel Immigration Law, he brings experience within the litigation field having practised it and centring around criminal, administrative, employment, and constitutional law for four years before coming to Canada. Prior to completing his legal studies, Jorge interned at the legal clinic operated by the Faculty of Law at the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga. While there, he focused on the sectors of the population living in poverty and vulnerable situations, such as people with disabilities, and immigrants. Jorge would like to focus his growing career in Canada on the International Law and Human Rights – specifically – both Canadian and U.S immigration systems. As a person who has always been keen on basketball and jogging, he sees these kinds of activities as a way to contribute discipline and method to fulfil the daily basis routine. Jorge attended law school having graduated with Cum Laude distinction from the Autonomous University of Bucaramanga in Colombia in 2018. In addition, he holds a Postgraduate Degree in Public Law. While being in law school, Jorge participated in several debate competitions, receiving the opportunity to represent his home country at the Global Debate and Public Policy Change held in Budapest, Hungary in 2015. He considers himself as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community as well as women´s rights.
